The Law of the Garbage Truck

A little analogy for you...
One day I hopped in a taxi and we took off for the airport.
We were driving in the right lane when suddenly a black car jumped
out of a parking space right in front of us.
My taxi driver slammed on his brakes, skidded and
just missed the other car by inches!
The driver of the other car whipped his head
around and started yelling at us. My taxi
driver just smiled and waved at the guy.
And I mean, he was really friendly!
So I asked, "Why did you just do that?
That guy almost ruined your car and sent us to the hospital!"
Then is when my taxi driver taught
me what I now call
"The law of the Garbage Truck".
He explained that many people are like
garbage trucks - they run around full of garbage,
full of frustration, full of anger,
and full of disappointments. As their
garbage piles up, they need a place
to dump it and sometimes they'll
dump it on you.
Don't take it personally. Just smile, wave and
wish them well and move on. Don't take
their garbage and spread it to
other people at work, at home, or on
the streets. The bottom line is
that successful people do not
let garbage trucks take over their day!
Life is too short to wake up in the
morning with regrets, so
"Love and pray for the people
who treat you right and
love and pray for the ones who don't."
Life is 10% what you make it
and 90% how you take it!
What a great philosophy!

Check out the comment section -
Please read the comment from Chris -
had no idea of this web site or that
it is actually a true story! I had received
the story on an email and thought I would
share. Glad she commented - the site
she talks about is great!
Another of the comments is from my
sister - who works for a
different garbage company than the
one pictured! If she sends me
a picture then I will post hers! ;-)

I cannot believe that 1) you put a picture of a Waste Management truck on your blog and 2) you can say that a "successful" person doesn't let a garbage truck take over their day..... LOL..... I do agree with the philosophy of the article... Just remember though that just cause some think it stinks.... to the owner of the garbage company it smells like money!

What a great way to think and attitude. Now if we could pay those words forward our world would be a better place to live and Jesus would be smiling upon us all.

I will pass on sending a picture of one of our trucks.... the other comment and his website though is pretty cool and I will be passing it on to many of my co-workers and bosses tomorrow.
